The WAI

The Whole Athlete Initiative (the WAI) is a holistic approach to cultivating high-performance that honors the development of the WHOLE student-athlete, mind, body and soul, by providing pillars of support to individuals, teams and organizations that elevate mental health and improve performance.

THE WAI VIRTUAL TEAM ROOM 

The Virtual Team Room (the VTR) will be the home base for interactive high-performance coaching and mindfulness skill building. It will be a safe place for student-athletes to share, connect, recharge, expand their skills, dive deeper and ask questions. 

The purpose of this group space is to help athletes identify, develop and strengthen the support, skills and tools needed to positively cope with pressure, stress and other hard things so they can:

  • optimize performance // increase access to flow state 

  • rise after a fall // positively cope with struggle + challenges // release the grip of perfectionism 

  • enjoy the sport they love // decrease stress, rumination, performance anxiety + burnout 

  • navigate feedback // cultivate ownership over actions // improve relationships: athlete:athlete + athlete:coach + coach:coach

  • increase self-awareness // clear blocks // develop self-trust // increase confidence

Group Guideposts + Facilitation 

Samantha and/or her co-facilitators will be inside the WAI VTR at least once / day over the course of the to engage with members, respond to posts and monitor for out-of-bounds behavior. What's shared in the group remains confidential unless Samantha, or her cofacilitators, have concern for the safety of the group member and/or others. The guideposts for the group are as follows: 

- choose kindness + curiosity 

- be respectful + supportive; give advice only if solicited 

- give the gift of generosity 

Admins have the right to remove any member of the group for conduct that violates these guideposts.
